We’ve all had this issue, you start typing an email address and it automatically completes the email address in thinks you mean. Sometimes it can make your life easier, sometimes it’s just annoying. You enter a letter and an ex or some horrible past client keeps popping up. How the heck do you make it stop?

Thankfully the steps are super easy to remove an email from Mac Mail memory.

1) While in Mac Mail, go to the “Window” menu and choose “Previous Recipients”.

2) “Previous Recipients” window opens with a searchable list names and e-mail addresses of people you have sent email to in the past. Click the Name, E-mail or Last Used bar at the top of the column to sort the list or simply use the search functionality.

3) To remove someone, the annoying or out of date email, from the Previous Recipients list so that Mail won’t try to auto-complete the address, click on the entry to select it and then click the “Remove From List” button in the bottom left corner of the window.

You’re done! Mail won’t try to autofill any longer!
